December 21, 2024 – In celebration of Hue’s milestone designation as a centrally governed city, nearly 150 golfers gathered to compete in The Golden Masters, the first-ever golf tournament held at Golden Sands Golf Resort. Located in Vinh Thanh and Vinh Xuan (Phu Vang District, Thua Thien Hue Province), the course was designed by Nicklaus Design, the world’s leading golf course architecture firm founded by golf legend Jack Nicklaus, also known as “The Golden Bear.”

Participants in The Golden Masters enjoyed a memorable golfing experience on what is being hailed as “Vietnam’s Most Challenging Golf Course.” The event not only tested their technical skills but also allowed them to immerse themselves in the tranquil natural beauty of Vietnam’s central coastal region.

Golden Sands Golf Resort boasts a total course length of 7,519 yards, exceeding the standard 7,200-yard benchmark. The course features rolling fairways, massive waste areas, deep bunkers, and enormous greens – some measuring up to 1,300 square meters, or 150% larger than those on most courses in Vietnam. The greens are known for their undulating dual slopes, making green-reading especially demanding for players.

Despite these challenges, the course is thoughtfully designed to remain welcoming to golfers of all skill levels, allowing players to focus on enjoying the experience rather than being overwhelmed by difficulty.

Since opening, Golden Sands Golf Resort has quickly emerged as a premier international golfing destination for Hue City and Vietnam’s central coast. The course enhances the region’s appeal to both domestic and international visitors, particularly high-spending golf tourists seeking luxurious and unique experiences.

As a complement to Hue’s heritage tourism offerings, the resort encourages travelers to extend their stays and explore the rich cultural, culinary, and human heritage of a destination recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site. The course contributes to affirming Vietnam’s status as “Asia’s Best Golf Destination”, a title awarded for the 11th time and the 8th consecutive year at the World Golf Awards 2024.
